What to wear to a festival?

Summer is approaching, and with it, festival season. If you're a fan of fashion AND music, you might already be thinking about what outfits you'll wear to these events. The main challenge: combining comfort and style in one outfit. Whether you have tickets for Coachella, Calvi on the Rock, or another festival, we're giving you our best tips on how to dress for a festival.

Wear comfortable and suitable attire

If you want to fully enjoy your festival experience, it's best to be comfortable in your clothes. These types of events often last several days and are held in large areas where you'll need to move around. You'll also probably be dancing. Comfortable attire is therefore an important element for a successful festival.

Your outfit must also be suitable for the situation. Avoid choosing the most fragile, most expensive, or your favorite items from your wardrobe. They risk getting stained (grass, mud, drinks, food, etc.) or even torn during such a festive event.

Also, plan outfits that are appropriate for the weather. Festivals are very often held outdoors. You can check the forecast beforehand and choose your looks accordingly. In hot weather, bring light clothes, a hat, and sunglasses. Still, bring warmer clothes for the evening or in case of a sudden change in weather. If it might rain, opt for waterproof clothing and essential boots.

Prepare appropriate footwear

Forget your high heels and sandals. Festivals are held in nature, in green spaces that are likely to turn into mud if it rains. You'll be in the middle of a crowd and risk getting your feet stepped on. Plus, you'll often be moving between the campsite, different concert stages, food stalls, etc.

An unsuitable pair of shoes could very well ruin your festival. It's also not the time to break in your latest purchase. Firstly, it might not last long. Secondly, it would be a shame (and very painful) to end up with blistered feet! It is therefore essential to bring shoes in which you are comfortable and which will withstand all the hazards of your festive stay.

Focus on accessories

Accessories seem indispensable to us at a festival. Firstly, they will be very useful. Secondly, they will add style to your outfit.

If you could only choose one, bring a bag with you. It should be large enough to hold the things you'll need at the heart of the festival, but not too bulky. Opt for an accessory that will allow you to keep your hands free: a backpack, fanny pack, crossbody bag, etc.

Hats are also very popular at festivals. In addition to protecting you from the sun or rain, they will add a bohemian, chic, or rock touch depending on their style.

Finally, if you want a sharp and elaborate outfit even at a festival, jewelry is a safe bet. Our advice: start with a simple outfit as the base of your look (denim shorts and a t-shirt for example) and accessorize it with stacked necklaces, rings, or bracelets.

Dress for a festival according to the theme

To choose your outfit well, you need to consider the theme of the festival you are attending. You won't dress the same way depending on whether it's rock, electro, or jazz.

For a jazz festival, your outfit will be more elegant and dressy. Palazzo pants, a basic white top, and a Fedora hat could make the perfect combo. You can also adopt a vintage look, but always casual and comfortable to fully enjoy your evening.

For a rock festival, your look will also be rock. Leather jacket, denim shorts, vintage band t-shirt, cowboy boots, etc.: the choice is vast. But you can also wear a more bohemian, or even hippie outfit, which has been very trendy at festivals in recent years. For this, we recommend long dresses (but practical!), crochet pieces, or kimonos.

Finally, for an electronic music festival, the dress code will be more fluorescent and futuristic. You can dare to wear bright colors, glitter, sequins, or holographic pieces. The atmosphere is often overexcited and conducive to dancing; so choose clothes that are not too warm and in which you can move for hours!

A sharp look will allow you to stand out at events such as music festivals. But always prioritize comfort and practicality to fully enjoy your moment.
