Sea bamboo is a marine plant. It owes its name to the architecture of its skeleton, which consists of a succession of segments, just like terrestrial bamboo. It is mainly composed of limestone and has a very hard structure.

Sea bamboo strongly resembles coral, hence the name coral bamboo that is sometimes attributed to it. Since coral has been a protected species for several years, sea bamboo proves to be a very good alternative.

Naturally, this plant has a whitish color. It is often dyed red to make various accessories such as jewelry.

Care for sea bamboo jewelry

Like all jewelry, those made with sea bamboo must be cared for to last long and maintain their shine. As coral bamboo is an organic material, it requires special care.

Acidity deteriorates sea bamboo. Therefore, avoid contact with chemical substances such as cosmetics, perfumes, chlorine, etc. You should not clean them with products intended for gold and silver jewelry.

Perspiration is also an acidic substance. Therefore, be sure to regularly wash your coral bamboo accessories with a soft, damp cloth. You can occasionally apply a colorless oil to moisturize the material and restore its luster.

Finally, we advise you not to swim with your sea bamboo jewelry, whether in the sea or at the pool. Also remove them when you shower. Prolonged contact with water will dull the material and give it a lackluster appearance.

An excellent alternative to coral, sea bamboo allows for the creation of marine-inspired accessories. It is an ideal material for Camille Colette Studio jewelry.
